HAPPY 43rd
BIRTHDAY (Ouch!!), COACH GARY
April 24th
The Heat girls lost a tough game to Central Brevard 0-2, in a match
they dominated every place except the scoreboard. The girls
showed excellent ball control and skills, and had several great scoring
chances. CBS had a grand total of two shots on goal, and scored
on both. The Heat had one of those days where they simply
couldn't find the back of the net. The improvement in team play
has been very evident over the last few weeks, as we head into our
final tournament, and look forward to the final month of the spring
season.
April 23rd
The Heat defeated Rockledge 3-0, in a game that saw Meagan B. sidelined
for at least the next several weeks with a broken wrist. About
midway through the first half, Meagan was fouled with an illegal push
that resulted in the Rockledge player being yellow carded.
Caroline scored all three Heat goals, as the Heat dominated play from
start to finish will excellent ball control.
April 16th
The Heat lost a tough game to the 1st place MEGU Fusion, 0-1. The
Fusion had previously gone undefeated in the fall season, and are
currently undefeated in the spring. The defense played a very
strong game, putting back many Fusion runs. Alison was also
strong at keeper, keeping the game tight. The girls were able to
keep the game scoreless for the first 45 minutes until a defensive mix
up led to the lone Fusion goal. The coaches were, however,
pleased to play a strong defensive game against this future State Cup
team.

HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY,

April 8th
Tomorrow's game vs. CBS231 is postponed and will be re-scheduled.
Also, Monday's training session will take place at Maitland Middle
School until dark (no lights there). Please plan to pick up your
child no later than 8pm.
April 2nd/3rd
The Heat completed their first Region Cup tournament finishing in 3rd place.
The girls lost a tough semifinal match-up 0-1 vs. eventual the
champions Vero Beach Vipers. The Vipers were a team that the Heat
had recently tied (and outplayed) in Jacksonville. However, the
Vipers were the better team this day, as the Heat could not manage a
single solid shot on goal. Alison's goalkeeping kept the team
close, but the Viper's converted the game winner midway through the 2nd
half.
Sunday's 3rd place game vs. crosstown rival Seminole Stampede was
another incredibly close game between these two teams. The Heat
had previously lost by a goal to the Stampede in the fall season, and
then improved on that result with a tie two weeks ago. Today's
match was no different. After a scoreless first half, Meagan B.
opened the scoring just minutes into the 2nd half on a perfectly placed
left foot shot after a long run. The Stampede came back to tie
the game with less than 10 minutes to play in regulation, which sent
the game into overtime. Again, the Heat showed their resolve with
Caroline scoring with a rocket right foot following a nice run.
But, the Stampede came back with a goal of their own in the 2nd
overtime period to tie the game 2-2, where it ended. The high
drama of Penalty Kicks followed. The Heat converted three of
their first four shots with Meagan B, Caroline and Reagan making it
look easy. But, the real hero was Heat goalkeeper Alison, who
stopped 3 of 5 Stampede shots, sealing the victory. It was great
fun to watch the girls hoist Alison on to their shoulders for the
victory ride!!!
