The
Heat finished their pre-season scrimmage schedule with a disappointing
1-1 tie vs. EOS. The girls played well in the first 10 minutes
and the last 10 minutes, but showed little in between. Even
without two starting forwards, the girls outshot EOS by a wide margin,
but couldn't finish many good scoring chances.
Schedules for next weekend's tournament will be available tomorrow.

The
Heat took the field for the first time since early July, in a scrimmage
double-header against two highly regarded State Cup teams, IUS and
Kumba. In the day's first game, the girls showed that they came
to play. In a back and forth game that showed lots of offense
from both teams, the Heat played IUS to a 2-2 draw. Both teams
had two or three chances to score the winner, but neither could
convert. In the day's 2nd game, the Heat played without key two
players, Gabrielle and Allison. After falling behind early 0-1,
the Heat play Kumba even the rest of the way until the game was called
due to hard rain and lightning early in the 2nd half.
Overall, the coaches were very pleased with the girl's play.

The team welcomes Kelsey as our newest player.
Training is now in full swing. All girls now have a juggling goal
and should be working on improving their juggling daily (outside of
practice). And fitness will be a serious component of August
training. Girls are all targeting an 8 minute mile with many
already achieving closer to 7 minutes.
