February News

The Heat girls rebounded from a disappointing trip to Tampa last week, with a solid effort in Jacksonville at the Region B cup challenge round.   The team lost a very close game, and tied another, against teams that had handily beaten us in the fall.  Our third game was rained out.

Game 1 vs Spacecoast saw the Heat score early in the first half with Caroline recording her first goal as a Heat player.  The girls held the lead until the 52nd minute in an even game until Spacecoast tied it up.  Spacecoast added the winning goal 3 minutes later, and earned the come from behind victory.

Game 2 vs Vero Beach was a very physical game which was scoreless at the half.  Vero Beach struck first about midway through the 2nd half.  Rather than lay down, the girls dominated play the rest of the way, with Patricia finally netting the equalizer on a rebound from a Reagan direct free kick with about 5 minutes to play.

HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY ALYSHA!

The Heat girls opened their spring tournament schedule dropping all 4 games at the Blackwatch tournament.  The girls lost two lopsided games to St. Pete and Team Boca.  The two games against Gulf Coast and Manatee were much closer with the final result not decided until well into the 2nd half after being scoreless ties at the half in both games.

Highlights: Watching Team Boca show what the very best of girls U12 soccer is all about.

Lowlights: Having to be on the field while Team Boca showed us their stuff.

Because of the poor field condition at Lake Destiny, all regular season home games will be played at Red Bug Park.  Game times are now set.  Check the schedule page.  Also, the Regional Cup Final 4 location has been selected to be Deltona, which means no overnight travel will be necessary.

And finally, Coach Gil will be demonstrating these juggling skills at the next practice.
