The Heat girls
WIN the Disney Cup!!!!
July 2nd
The Heat girls advanced to the finals of Disney Cup with a 1-0 win
over top-seeded Vineland (New Jersey). The Heat girls outplayed
Vineland in the first half, generating two good scoring chances, with
Gabrielle converting the second one, for her 2nd
goal of the tournament. The 2nd half was a defensive struggle
with Vineland applying pressure until the final minute, but the Heat's
solid defense prevented any serious scoring chances. The girls now face
3rd seeded Enon (Ohio) for the championship.
July 1st
The Heat squeaked into the semifinals
of the Disney Cup tournament as the 4th seed despite losing two games
and winning just one in group play. The girls defeated Cordica
(Mexico) 4-0 in their opener, in a game that proved to be decisive in
their advancement, as Cordica also finished group play with 1 win and 2
losses. The Heat's 2nd game saw a disappointing 0-1 defeat to
Enon (Ohio). Despite outshooting Enon 19 to 2, the girls couldn't
convert in the wet, soggy conditions. Game 3 saw the Heat come up
short again, 1-3, to Delta Dragons (Calif).
Even with the two losses the Heat advanced, and now face the 1st seed
Vineland Vipers (New Jersey), who won 2 and tied 1 in their group play.
June 25th
The Heat are now a confirmed late entry into the Disney Cup Youth
International tournament beginning Wednesday, June 29th. The
schedule is posted here.
Directions to Disney Wide World of Sports can be found here.
6 teams are entered. We are the only Florida team. Top 4 of
6 move to the semifinals on Saturday, after 3 games of group
play. Semifinal winners play for the championship on Sunday.
June 16th
We still have 1 or 2 openings for serious players looking to train
hard,
have fun, and take their game to the next level. If you are a U13
player born after 8/1/92, or a U12 player who wishes to "play up" to
11-a-side, please contact Head Coach Gil Regaspi
for more information. We'll arrange for an informal kick-around
for you to come out, meet the caoches, meet some of the girls, and
"kick it around" for awhile. The
team trains at various times in the season at Maitland
Middle School or Lake Destiny Park.
Also, the Heat team welcomes new player Joy for the
upcoming season.
