The Heat opened their GCF league season against a highly
motivated CFU team that the girls had previously beaten at Ormond
Beach. The girls opened the scoring early on a nice passing
combination that Megan W. pounded into a wide open net for the easy
goal. However, a couple of defensive errors led to a CFU PK goal,
and a long range floating ball over the keeper's head to give CFU a 2-1
lead at the half. The girls fought hard in the 2nd half,
dominating most of the possession, but failed to get a few good chances
by the CFU keeper, and CFU hung on for the 2-1 win.

Cup final four results...
The Heat entered final four competition as the 3rd
seed. And that's where they finished, as the 3rd place team,
after losing a close game to Spacecoast in the semis, and then
dominating Jacksonville in the 3rd place game. Check below for
the individual game details..
Seminfinal
game- The girls faced a tough Spacecoast team in the key
semifinal game. The team had recently beaten and tied this team
in two closely played matches. The girls outplayed Spacecoast for
much of the first half, but could not convert 6 great chances.
Spacecoast took a 1-0 lead into the half after converting a PK
following a very questionable foul in the box. The Heat again got
the better of the overall play in the 2nd half, finally tieing the game
about halfway through on gorgeous header by Megan W. off of a perfectly
placed free kick by Reagan. Regulation ended tied 1-1, and the
game went to two 10 minute overtime periods. Spacecoast converted
a failed clearance for the tiebreaking goal late in the first
overtime. The Heat pressed hard for the equalizer in the 2nd
overtime, but a stubborn Spacecoast defense held on and sealed the win,
as the Heat was again relegated to the 3rd place game for the 2nd year
in a row.
3rd
place game- The team faced
Jacksonville in the 3rd place matchup. This game was dominated
from start to finish by the Heat. Reagan opened the scoring early
in the 1st half with a strong shot off the right post and into the
net. The 2nd half again saw the Heat dominate play, with the
win finally being sealed about 5 minutes from the finish when
Gaby rocketed a shot by the Jax keeper for the 2-0 win.

Cup seeding round results...
The Heat competed this weekend in Jacksonville in a
set of games to determine seeding for the Regional Final at the end of
March. The girls finished the weekend with a 1-1-1 record and
will be the 3rd seed for the finals.
GAME
1 - The team opened against Jacksonville
with a 1-0 win. The game was not as close as the score would
indicate, as the team generated at least 10 good chances, before Gaby
finished a nice goal fed from Patricia to start the 2nd half.
Kait made a nice save near the end to knot the victory.
GAME
2 - The team faced Spacecoast next. Megan W.
opened the scoring about 10 minutes into the game off a nice feed from
Reagan. The girls held Spacecoast easily most of the game, but a
long ball played into the penalty area late in the game resulted in a
questionable penalty kick call, that Spacecoast converted to tie the
game, which is how it ended.
GAME
3 -
In the weekend's final game, the girls faced a highly motivated CBS
Cyclones team looking to avenge their loss to the Heat at Ormond Beach
in January. Unfortunately, the girls were outplayed from start to
finish. CBS scored twice in both halves, and throroughly
dominated the game. We look forward to facing them again later
this month and put out a much more inspired effort.
