November News

November 20th
The Heat girls lost their final fall season game 1-5 against a tough Space Coast team.  Meagan scored her team-leading 4th goal of the season on a great effort to beat a tight defender, and the keeper, about midway through the 1st half to tie the game 1-1.  Space Coast scored very late in the first half to retake the lead with a goal that seemed to deflate the Heat girls who put out something of a sub-par effort in the 2nd half.

In the Heat's most solid performance of the season outside of tournament play, the girls TIED the state's 19th ranked FCA Kumba 0-0.  The game was as even as the score would indicate.  The Heat did, however, have the game's two best scoring chances.  Shelby hit the crossbar with a solid left foot strike, and Reagan was denied by a good keeper save on a break away.  Patricia played the entire game at keeper, allowing Allison to stay at left defender where she completely shut down the Kumba's star right wing.  In fact, the entire team played very solid defensively giving the Kumba very few chances inside the penalty area.  GREAT GAME GIRLS!

The Heat girls faced a very talented Melbourne Beach team and came away with a 1-4 loss.  MLB pretty much dominated from start to finish with very skilled passing and very aggressive play that the Heat girls could not match.  Our two previous games against state-ranked Melbourne teams are a good indicator of the level of play of the very best teams in the state in our age group.  Click here for a quick summary of our results this season against state-ranked teams.

The team captains for November have been selected.  This was a difficult decision for the coaches, as many girls have shown great improvement in the last month.  The captains are Patricia, Natalie and Taylor.  Honorable mentions go to Meagan and Megan.   Congratulations girls!
