HAPPY
13TH BIRTHDAY, KAIT!!!
Also, congratulations to the 8 Heat girls who participated in the
Region B ODP Trials in Kissimmee. Meagan, Kait, Kelsey, Taylor,
Natalie, Reagan, Shelby, and Megan all showed well against many of the
best players in the state, and gained great experience in this highly
competitive environment.

The Heat completed a mildly successful Largo tournament
with 1 win, 1 tie and 1 loss. The team missed advancing to the
finals after losing their 3rd game, 1-2.
GAME
1 - The team opened against Gulfcoast U14 with a 0-0
tie. The girls had many good chances, especially in the 2nd half
but couldn't convert. Unfortunately, this would be the theme for
the next two games as well.
GAME
2 - The team dominated a weaker Pinellas Park U13 team
with a 3-0 win. Reagan, Kait, and Meagan B (with a header!)
tallied goals, and the Heat missed at least 4 or 5 other very good
opportunities.
GAME
3 - This was the crucial game, with the girls needing a
win against Wset Pasco U13 to advance to the finals. Guest player
Noelia opened the scoring for the Heat. A failed defensive
clearance about 5 minutes later, led to a West Pasco goal and a 1-1
halftime tie. The Heat's strong midfield play allowed them to
outplay West Pasco for much of the 2nd half. Again, however, the
girls missed at least 3 or 4 very good chances to pull ahead.
West Pasco netted the game winner on a long range shot with less than 1
minute to play, sending the Heat home early.

The Heat tied 1st place CFU Arantes 3-3. The game
saw the girls start slow once again, giving up the first goal just a
few minutes into the game. The girls quickly turned things around
with Meagan B. and Gabrielle converting nice shots to put the Heat up
2-1 at the half. Gaby put the Heat up 3-1 about 12 minutes into
2nd half with a nice near post shot from a tough angle. The
girls, however, couldn't quite hold on as CFU converted for their 2nd
and 3rd goals when the Heat couldn't clear well late in the 2nd
half. The game ended in yet another tie for the Heat (our third
of the season).

The Heat lost a hard fought game to the IUS Dragons
0-1. After starting very slow, and giving up a goal in the
first few minutes, the girls settled down the rest of the way in a very
evenly matched game. The girls had 4 or 5 good chances to get the
equalizer, but couldn't convert. Of note, the team was missing 3
starters, and played the game with no subs, yet they battled a tough
Dragons team hard the entire match.

After a refreshing week away from soccer, practice begins
again Tuesday. Two tough games this weekend against two of the

The Heat defeated Kumba U14 1-0 this morning. The
girls dominated the game from start to finish, even while missing two
starters from the lineup. However, the girls lacked the killer
instinct today to put the game away with a 2nd goal, even with almost
countless good opportunities. Reagan scored the Heat's lone goal
on a nice solo effort.
